It was stunning. Yesterday Everything was ok. Then windows 10 gets an update. And all of a sudden my Asus laptop no longer supports its external HDMI port ?
It sure seemed that way.
Windows insisted there was no need for a driver rollback. A regular download of an updated driver of the graphics card did not work either. But when, slightly desperate, I tried, one last time, the same update, this time using the Nvidia GeForce Experience software - and things got back to work !
Why? not sure. Seems like the Geforce Experience software handles the update in a more comprehensive manner, fixing the settings which the Windows 10 update screwed up.
But if you find your self with your laptop suddenly not supporting an external monitor following a windows 10 update, you know what to try - update your driver, using the manufacturer's recommended path.
